The Glenn English National Cooperative Leadership Foundation encourages educational advancement by awarding higher education scholarships to eligible students. To date, the Foundation is proud to have awarded $56,000 to NRECA’s Washington D.C. Youth Tour alumni since starting the program in 2014! Each year, they award one $10,000 scholarship and four additional $1,000 scholarships.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for The Glenn English National Cooperative Leadership Foundation scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a US citizen
  • Have participated in NRECA’s Youth Tour program
  • Have received academic credits equal to at least one year of college
  • Have completed at least one semester at an accredited university or college as a full-time student
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited university or college by the application deadline of April 1, 2017
  • Be working on completing his/her first undergraduate degree*

The interest and success of the Youth Tour Alumni scholarship has inspired the Glenn English Scholarship Committee to partner with IEEE-REPC to add an additional opportunity: The Next Generation Rural Engineering Scholarship.Each year, the committee will award two $2,000 scholarships to college students seeking a career in the rural electric engineering fields.

One major difference between the Next Generation Engineering Scholarship and the Glenn English National Cooperative Leadership Foundation Scholarship (detailed above) is that the Next Generation Engineering Scholarship applicants do not need to be former Youth Tour participants.Please read on for other additional application criteria and information.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be enrolled in an ABET, 4-year program of electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology, and have at least a ‘B’ average in major subjects.
  • Major GPA will be considered in both eligibility and scoring.
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student.
  • Applicant must have already received academic credits equal to at least one year of college.
  • Scholarship criteria will credit extracurricular activities in the engineering field including, but not limited to, participation in: Science fairs | MathCounts | FFA | 4H | Boy Scouts | Robotics | Computers, and other similar activities which enhance and/or promote engineering skills
  • Deadline will be announced in spring 2019

Leadership Summit is an energetic and motivating half-day leadership program held March 16, 2020 at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds during the Oklahoma Youth Expo. Students receive a $500 scholarship to use for any continuing education. OEC selects two students from its territory for this honor.

Application Requirements:

  • Students must participate in FHA, 4-H, and complete the Oklahoma Youth Expo scholarship application 
  • Students must be OEC members.
  • The 2020 scholarship application must be submitted or postmarked by Dec. 1, 2019.
  • Students will be notified no later than Feb. 28.

Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives will offer two $1,250 Educational Scholarships to 12th-grade students exhibiting in the Oklahoma Youth Expo who will be attending an Oklahoma Higher Education Institution. Students will be evaluated on: academics, community involvement and junior agriculture program participation.

Three OEC members (or children of members) have the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship for continuing education just by attending OEC’s Annual Meeting in August.

How to Qualify:

  • Attend Annual Meeting and enter to win at the Luck of the Draw registration table in the Innovation Expo/Kids’ Zone area before 7 p.m.;
  • Be an OEC member of any age OR the child (up to age 26) of an OEC member;
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or technical school;
  • Be present to win.

Scholarships must be used by December of the following year. A scholarship won in August 2020 must be redeemed no later than December 2021. To redeem, the lucky winner must present a current bursar bill with proof of enrollment to Tory Tedder-Loffland, education and outreach programs director, at or mail to her attention.
