OEC Foundation continues support of Meals on Wheels

The OEC Foundation, created in 1993, has a long history of supporting local organizations and families in OEC’s service area through the Operation Round Up®program. Its support of Meals on Wheels of Norman dates back almost to the beginning of the Foundation — 1996 — and the board ensured that support would continue when it granted the organization $9,000 to serve nutritious meals to the ill, disabled and elderly across Cleveland County.

“There are services our community has come to rely on, and Meals on Wheels is one of those,” said Joyce Wallace, OEC Foundation board president. “We are proud to partner with these organizations to ensure everyone in our communities is well cared for.”

Meals on Wheels of Norman received $9,000 to continue its Free Meal program that will provide 2,894 meals to seniors and homebound clients.

The board also granted Camp Kesem at the University of Oklahoma $2,000. Camp Kesem supports children through and beyond their parents’ cancer with innovative, fun-filled programming.

Norman Affordable Housing Corporation received $5,000 for bedding for homeless people being housed, and seven individuals and families received assistance with dentures, air conditioner repair and school clothes.

Grants from the Operation Round Up program are made possible by members who choose to round up their electric bills each month. Applications — individual/family and organizational — may be found at www.okcoop.org/ORU. Those submitted by Sept. 7 will be reviewed at a meeting Sept. 27.

Contact Tory Tedder-Loffland at 217-6726 or ORU@okcoop.org if you have any questions about the program or the application process.
