Danny Drake, Jr. Joins OEC’s Board of Trustees | OEC News

OEC’s board strengthens with the addition of Danny Drake, Jr.

Danny Drake, Jr. of the Little Axe area joined OEC’s Board of Trustees following the resignation of former District 2 Trustee Percy Moreu, who served on OEC’s board for over 16 years. At the October meeting of the Board of Trustees, the board voted to appoint Drake as District 2 representative.

This new trustee’s began a three-year term in October following a contested election that did not meet quorum attendance. The trustee — also an OEC member — proudly serves his district, which includes the Newalla, Pink, Little Axe and Etowah communities.

“We are delighted to welcome Danny Drake, Jr. to our esteemed Board of Trustees,’ said Shirley Idleman, Board of Trustees president. “His arrival signifies a commitment to excellence and innovation, ensuring that our members will be served in the way they expect and deserve. We are excited for the fresh perspectives and dynamic leadership he brings to our team.”

Per OEC’s by-laws, trustees serve three-year terms, with a different group eligible for election each year. OEC notified all members in the September Co-op News of the upcoming filing period for a spot on OEC’s board representing District 2.

OEC’s Board of Trustees is tasked with becoming educated, knowledgeable experts in the electric industry. Seven of the nine trustees hold certifications and distinctions marking them as professionals in the field, qualifying them to make decisions in their constituents’ best interests and ensure the co-op succeeds in its mission while remaining transparent to the members who own it.
