What Makes Up Your Electric Bill?

One thing that’s not always obvious is that most of your co-op’s costs are fixed. That means whether you use one kilowatt-hour or 1,000, the bulk of what it takes to maintain your electric service doesn’t change.

We build and maintain the lines, poles, substations and systems that deliver power to homes and businesses across our entire service area. This includes a service availability charge on your bill, which helps cover the essential fixed costs for maintaining and replacing infrastructure, distribution services and administration.

Why the Service Availability Charge Matters

Every member pays this charge, ensuring a fair contribution to the cooperative’s overall operational costs. Even if no electricity is used in a billing cycle, the infrastructure and service are still maintained and ready.

To enhance your experience, we’re always looking at how we can provide flexible options that cater to a variety of needs. We’ve developed different rate options to better match how members use electricity.

Our Standard Residential Rate is simple and predictable. Our Electric Vehicle Rate, initially developed for EV owners charging overnight, has also proven to be a cost-saver for many members who heat or use appliances at night — even without an EV.
