Monday, October 30, 2017: Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) continues to make good progress on their continued updates on the Sara Substation. Engineering drawings are complete (in order to run new transmission lines), Right Of Way permissions have all been obtained and construction is slated to start soon. Check back for continued updates.
Saturday, March 11, 2017: At about noon there was a brief two minute outage at the Sara Substation. Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) found the problem in a transmission line and solved it quickly.
Tuesday, Dec. 6: At about 1:30 a.m., a car hit an OEC pole at SW 59th Street and Czech Hall Road in the Mustang area. The accident caused about 2,000 members to be without power for close to two hours. All members' power was restored by 3:30 a.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 2:
OEC's contractors are replacing old primary underground lines in a housing addition located at 44th and Czech Hall Road. In total, we are replacing close to 10,000 feet of wire in this addition.
Tuesday, Sept. 27:
OEC is changing poles and wires along a mile section coming off the Sara substation. This is an upgrade project.
Wednesday, Sept. 14:
With the help of Western Farmers Electric Co-op (WFEC, OEC's power supplier), we were able to complete checking connections on Sara feeder 4 with WFEC's infrared tool. This allowed us to look at any hot or burning connections along the main line. We found only two spots where the connections showed to be a little warmer than the others. We followed up checking the connections and they were fine. Click here to see a report.
Friday, Sept. 9:
This week, maintenance finished inspections of all pad mount transformers in Settlers Ridge addition. Voltage charts that were installed have been checked with no known power issues. We’ve also been in constant communication with many members who have verified no issues have occurred. OEC has installed additional animal protection on feeder 3 of the Sara substation, and we continue to monitor this area of our system closely while performing maintenance and looking for issues.
Tuesday, August 23:
After installing voltage charts on multiple members' homes last Friday who live in Settler’s Ridge and the surrounding areas, members of our metering department went back out yesterday to read the reports, which showed no blinks have occurred since installation. For preventive measures only, members of the OEC maintenance department also installed a new set of breakers within the same area. We certainly appreciate everyone's assistance and willingness to help us troubleshoot and resolve this issue.
Friday, August 19:
Following our Local Systems Update meeting last night and the additional information we received from our membership, OEC crews were once again hard at work up near Settlers Ridge and the Sara Substation this morning. Crews are currently testing system components both out in the field and back at OEC headquarters. Volt charts are currently being installed in various locations in and around that area as well. Once results come back on these tests and voltage readings are obtained, we will keep you informed as to what was discovered.
