Oklahoma Electric Cooperative (OEC) is honored to have received one coveted Platinum and two Gold 2023 Hermes Creative Awards — as well as two Honorable Mentions — for the design and implementation of its communications and member programming. The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Judges reviewed over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and over 27 other countries.
OEC received a Platinum Award for its Welcome to OEC Onboarding Email Series — a series of six emails sent to new members after they connect electric service. This email series, originally launched in 2017, is an integral part of OEC’s strategy to engage with the next generation of electric consumers. It has evolved over the past six years to meet the changing needs of members and further enhance our customized, detailed communications.
OEC also received two Gold Awards for its production of the monthly Co-op News magazine and a Welcome to OEC brochure. The Co-op News is OEC’s flagship communications piece — developed in-house — and promotes the many programs and services offered to members. Inside its 20 pages are human interest stories, announcements, energy efficiency and electrical safety tips, relevant news coverage, recipes, classified ads and more. The Welcome to OEC brochure introduces new members to the cooperative difference, as well as the many programs and services we offer.
In addition, OEC received two Honorable Mentions. The Current Buzz Podcast received recognition in the Electronic Media category, and a February Co-op News article titled Solar Vision: How solar panels impact Norman Public Schools, received Honorable Mention in the Print Media: Writing category. The story was written by Editor and Media Specialist JoMarie Ramsey and photographed by Video Marketing Specialist Burns Thornton.
