Efficiency Rebate Program for Residential Consumers

OEC is committed to helping its members make wise energy choices, conserve electricity and save money on their utility bills. To that end, the co-op offers rebates for the installation of energy efficient heat pumps and water heaters. Before purchasing and/or installing a heat pump, we recommend you:

  • select an Energy Star®-rated product;
  • get at least three bids before contracting the work; and
  • verify the heat & air company is qualified to install heat pumps.

Only OEC members qualify for rebates, and the following conditions must be met:

  • rebate claim must be made within six months of installation;
  • equipment must be new;
  • a copy of the sales slip or work order and a copy of the product rating certificate showing the AHRI reference number (to verify equipment meets energy efficiency standards) must be submitted along with PDF BulletOEC’s Rebate Request Form (available here);and
  • members must arrange for an inspection with RJ Mapes. Call (405) 217-6709 to set up an appointment.

Heat Pump Rebates

To qualify for the rebate levels below, installation must be completed on or after Aug. 28, 2012. (Call RJ Mapes at the above number for rebate terms for installations prior to this date.)

Rebates are available for the installation of heat pumps in the following instances:

  • Newly constructed homes, apartments and other structures billed under OEC's residential rate
  • Existing structures converting from gas to electric

There are several rebate levels. SEER must be verifiable in the most recent Air Conditioning Research Institute manual.

Rebates are as follows:

  • Air-source
    • Minimum 13 SEER - $175/ton of installed heat pump cooling capacity
      • Any back-up fuel (electric/gas/propane) is acceptable
    • Minimum 16 SEER (13.4 EER) & HSPF of 8.5 - $325/ton of installed heat pump cooling capacity

The air-source rebate is available for new construction or if converting from a gas furnace. It is not available for air-source replacement.

  • Geothermal
    • Minimum 18.5 EER & 3.6 COP - $1,000/ton* of installed heat pump cooling capacity

The geothermal rebate is available for new construction, conversion from gas furnace, or an air-source upgrade. It is not available for replacing an existing geothermal system.

Geothermal systems must be total electric to qualify at the geothermal level rebate. Gas back-up geothermal systems qualify at the air-source level.

*Maximum rebate is $5,000

Electric Water Heater Rebates

Rebates are available for the installation of new electric water heaters in the following instances:

  • Newly constructed homes, apartments and other structures billed under OEC’s residential rate.

OR

  • Existing residential structures converting from gas to electric water heating. The replacement of an existing electric water heater does not qualify for a rebate.

Water heaters must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

  • R-12 or greater insulation value;
  • two 4,500 watt heating elements; and
  • a five-year tank warranty

Rebates are $180 per eligible electric water heater installed.
